The Brookfield-LaGrange Park District 95 school board voted Monday to expel five students for their alleged roles in two break-ins at S.E. Gross Middle School between Nov. 26 and Nov. 30.

At their meeting on Dec. 15, board members decided to expel three students for two full calendar years, one student for the remainder of the current school year and the 2009-10 school year and one student for the remainder of the current school year. A sixth student reportedly involved in the incidents was not expelled.

All six students, boys and girls who attend both Gross School and Brook Park School, had been suspended since the alleged break-ins by school officials who identified them as suspects on Dec. 1.

In addition to the students from the district, two of the juveniles implicated were Lyons residents who attend Morton West High School. The children involved in the break-ins range in age from 9 to 14.]

Three of those involved were petitioned to Cook County juvenile authorities.

Don't these kids know that they don't need to break in, just show up in the morning and the doors are open.
