For whatever reason I can no longer drag and move desktop items...
I have to right click to delete desktop files...
Mr Mouse has been displaying an unusual icon as well when I try to copy
and paste, I get an icon in a white circle with a vertical arrow and descending
arrow with a bullet in between them...
Bad mouse perhaps? (optical)

Any help would be appreciated

Get a Mac  ;)

Maybe try removing the device and then reinstalling it?  That's kind of risky though, I think.

I hate when Winders shit doesn't work.

Cheers,

Yes...things like this would not happen with Mac...
I did all the usual suspect unplugs and housecleaning
to no avail...

1]Sometimes just a system reboot solves the issue. So try that first.

2]Check whether Drag and Drop is enabled or not.Right click on Start button>Properties>Start Menu>Customize>Advanced>Under the start menu items make sure the box against Enable dragging and dropping is checked.

3]If the above fails then try a System Restore.

4]If nothing helps, then type the following commands from the Run menu.:-

i>Start>Run>type in-"regsvr32 ole32.dll "(without the quotes)>press the Enter Key or OK.
ii>Start>Run>type in-"regsvr32 /i shell32.dll "(without quotes)>press the Enter
Key,or,OK.

5]Restart the computer.
Think of how stupid the average person is and realize half of them are stupider than that.

Thanks JQ for your help...things are still amiss,
but after going to HP's support line I resolved
the drag and drop deal...

Driver updates for Mr mouse and keyboard, yes the next home puter will
be a MAC as we use them at work

However my nude desktop chick pic tintype from the 1890's with the hairy
armpits sitting on a swing is gone, (yes Scoon, she was bookish yet sexy with that look
in her eye) and my desktop icons became the size of cantelopes, but I will resolve that later.

Thank you for your help, Curly always did know more than Moe...

And Bear has had worse problems...
