So much music to choose from, but I recall the first time I saw him perform this on WTTW ... the tiny hairs on my arms stood up.  I chose a version that shows the words, so do not let that distract you from the performanc.

Nice.  Now show that to your grandma.  I'm sure she'd be impressed ... and beam with pride over her grandson.  Where do they grow you ppl?

Danny Aiello Besame me mucho.  I love that song,  Danny sure shows passion even though he has a little trouble with the notes.  Anything with Louis Prima grabs my attention

Tony ... Besame Mucho is such a beautiful song - arrangement & lyrics - my favorite version is the Cesaria Evora rendition.  The Esquivel version is awesome, but not all that romantic.

As long as that includes Celine Dion & Mariah Carey for their disregard for the auditory welfare of dogs.

The great Domenico Modugno and a song from the late "Dolce Vita" era (about a mysterious, elegant, but lonely man who passes through town one day):

Luisa & Gabriella; two Roman girls singing (in Roman dialect) about love, food, wine, & being young in Rome in an idyllic time:

and a simple folk-song of the Calabrian 'Ndrangheta (from the "Il Canto di Malavita; La Musica della Mafia" CD) describing in detail what happens to informants; this album/song is banned in Italy, and only a portion is played on youtube... dedicated to victims (mainly prosecutors, lawmen, and judges) of organized crime:

I suppose I should fess up to my own favorite...

... although I'm sure it has much more to do with Fran Jeffries, Blake Edwards, and Peter Sellers than any musical accomplishment...

Ahhh.. apres-ski in Cortina d'Ampezzo, with the great David Niven and the greatest: Peter Sellers!

Nice clip, Rob.

OK, now you guys are starting to get the idea.  I'm so bad.  I set this thread up just so you guys would post love songs for me.  Ahhh, doesn't get any better.

Scrung:  "As long as that includes Celine Dion & Mariah Carey for their disregard for the auditory welfare of dogs."  Affirmative.

Eno, I bet you adore youtube and the wealth of ethnic music/video that you virtually could never find on your own here in Berwyn.  I've spent time myself searching for ethnic music I heard either as youngster/young adult.  I very much like that Calabrian 'Ndrangheta (from the "Il Canto di Malavita; La Musica della Mafia" CD).

TONY LA very nice.  What's the english title to that song, cause I know it.  Is it Love Me Forever? sumthin like that.

rbain, the Fran Jeffries is a classic.  And since you love to look at beautiful women, here is actual video of me during the Copperfields days.  I hope Shelley is reading this thread ... cause here I show you how to really slap a man around.  They love it.

I'm doing a love song ... but I don't think it's Italian.  Close.

Ah, but I happen to know that Pink Martini released that in 1997, and as cool as it sounds, it's impossible to be that cool and still live in Oregon...

As for the video, I'm pretty impressed that someone of such (ahem) advanced years could spend so much time online... I mean that film was released in '46, and if you really are the woman in question you'd have been born in 1918!

They should have used that song on "The Sopranos" episode where "Big Pussy" is escorted by the boys...to his fate!

well, the performance was close to mine. :P

Italians always wanna take the crown when it comes to amore, but you know the french don't take a backseat either.

This is not boyfriend/girlfriend.  This is not husband and wife.  How many love song duets do you ever see end like this?

great song by the way.

Sure thing Tony!  First time I heard that rendition was in the movie "Great Expectations" with Gwenyth Paltrow, Ethan hawke, Deniro & others.

A song I was recently introduced to has become one of my favorite songs about love, it's not in Italian nor sung by Italians, it's not musically over dramatic, it's simple with beautiful sentiment & a touch of humor ... It's John Prine:
