Manual 35mm Camera For Photography Class

I'm pondering my options regarding a manual 35mm, changable F stop, camera with flash.  I have a Praktica from the early 80s that I used with lenses, but the shutter trips every so often.  I'm wondering if I should get it fixed or look for another used camera.  My son needs it for 1 semester for a photography class and then he graduates.  PM me if you have a working camera with flash that you'd like to sell.
