I have a small cedar walk-in closet that needs a new life.  The wood is as dry as bones and there's no cedar scent at all.  I don't want to use any product that's gonna' rub off or stain the clothing.  Any suggestions before I just cover it with a clear poly ?
Why won't anyone believe it's not butter ?

Sandpaper will bring it back to life. At least somewhat.

Really ?  But that's so simple.
Thanks,  I'll test a small area and if it works I'll be dragging out the belt sander.

Agreed.  You can sand the patina off of that wood.  Go easy with the belt sander...I would prefer an orbital sander with fine grit paper.

I'd be more inclined to use a sanding sponge or pad, you don't have to go crazy on it.

Not a bad thought...those sponges are handy for this kind of thing.
