One of the best nights of baseball

This was one of the best nights of baseball not involving a Chicago team I've ever seen.  Wildcard berths (Cardinals/Braves, Rays/Red Sox) in the balance with the possibility of 1 game play-ins in both leagues, two of the four games involving the teams with their respective leagues' best records.  3 of those 4 games had game-changing blown leads in the 9th inning.

In the NL the Cards are handed the last game by MLB's worst, HOU.  The Braves cap a historic meltdown blowing a 3-2 lead to the NL's best Phillies in the 9th, ultimately losing in 14.  Braves, toast.

In the AL the league best Yankees are pasting the Rays at home, up 7-0 all game.  The Rays rally for 6 in the 8th, then tie it up with a Dan Johnson HR with 2 outs, 2 strikes in the 9th!
Meanwhile, the Red Sox cap a historic meltdown of their own, blowing a 3-2 lead to BAL with two outs in the 9th, losing 4-3.  Within literally 3 minutes of that, Evan Longoria of the Rays hits a line drive HR to beat the Yankees in 12!  Red Sox, toast, Rays win the wild card.

Wow!
Go RAYS!

Not to mention that a Rangers loss would have resulted in an entirely different playoff picture. They would have faced the Yankmes instead of the Rays.

Couldn't have been scripted better. A little bit of everything. The potential of TWO one game play-in games and neither materializes. What are the odds? A NL batting title controversy.

How can the playoffs top last night?
