Here is the agenda for tonight's city council meeting.  Most interesting discussions may be over the multi-unit housing inspector and over compensation and health insurance for elected officials:

I'd also add in there the Demolition Request for the Marik Funeral Home.  The Historic Preservation Commission is considering the application, so I don't know why council would be going around the process they set up.

I am surprised there is no mention of the Superblock tenants. The developer
was to submit such to the city by Sept. 30th to take ownership of the property.

Same here, sort of.  But given the economy, it is not surprising.  Hopefully they'll still acquire the property and can move forward as the economy (hopefully) improves.

Makes me wonder how many sales they've made at the new development at Stanley and Oak Park.  They are really making progress on the building.  When are they due to be ready for occupancy?

Bear

I know they start laying brick there tomorrow, a buddy of mine just got hired

Is it possible that nothing was mentioned because they have no tenant?
Just imagine that when you're done protesting, you'll still be unemployed ... GET OFF YOUR ASS and GET a JOB!

They should be making progress. Don't they have 4 million of our tax dollars?

Let's give another 4 million to find a tenant on Oak Park and Cermak.

I would think that is the case, likely another pooched deal.

If the deal was good, OC would have been blathering about the way he got the deal done to the high heavens by now.

Yep.  The old medical supply building has been touting new tenants for even longer..."new stores coming"
... "Shit ton of beer being served here soon!"

Looks like the parking garage at 34th & Grove was approved.  According to the article in the Life newspaper, no extra costs to the city. It will be paid for out of a state grant and Metra funds.

Does anyone know what happened on the issue of aldermanic salaries and aldermanic health insurance?

Ted

MRS. NORTHSIDER

No extra costs to the city for the parking garage is great news.  Hopefully, the city will strike a deal with MacNeal to lease a portion of the garage to offset their parking woes and provide some revenue for the city.

Berwyn Patsy

What worries me about the new condo development on Oak Park and Windsor, is if
the sales are not going well, will the developer rent them?
I noticed the rehabbed building of condos on 31st and Maple, have a sign to rent condos.
Glad the parking garage is finalized, I can't remember the design, did that change?
Retail space for both the garage and the new condos on OP and Windsor might not be a
good idea in this economy.  I hate how empty store fronts can make a neighborhood look.

ZORBA

What condo development on Windsor and Oak Park?

Berwyn Patsy

Sorry, I meant Oak Park and Stanley.
