We are very proud of being named an Illinois  Honor  Roll  Spotlight  School !  The Spotlight  School  award is a significant honor, and a credit to the student achievement that is the result of the hard work of our teachers and students.  The Illinois  State  Board of Education identifies the following as a strong component of a Spotlight  School : “a hard working, devoted staff that has the highest expectations, demands excellence, and REALLY believes each student can succeed”.  The faculty of Prairie  Oak  School  truly believes that a school must be a place where student achievement and personal development is the top priority. Teachers at Prairie  Oak  School  wholeheartedly embrace the challenge of meeting the needs of each and every child, and strive to provide a curriculum designed to maximize each child’s potential.  We understand the importance of supporting the development of self-respect and self-worth in each child, as well as encouraging a respect for others and the environment.

From the principal's message.

I think this achievement bucks the trend that Berwyn has bad schools.  Too bad we can't get this publicized.

Cheers,
Brian
