Anyone know, offhand, where to find parts for old iron railings around here?
I'm trying, just short of demolishing completely, to rehab my blighted stairs, and I need the base, or shoe which holds the rails tight to the wooden stair.
The bottoms are cemented in, tops screwed into the house, and one decrepid base is barely intact, holding one rail still tight.  The other is missing completely.

I think I need something like this , or this- ? (5/8")

Thanks...

Home Despot has em...They are taller than the ones in your pic, so if you have rust higher up
you can saw into fresh metal....If they dont have em, look under ornamental iron in the phone book, there is a place on 47th in Brookfield
...What else can we do now except roll down the window and let the wind blow back your hair...
