Can I elevate a new furnace  ?  Does the installer do this ?
I need a new furnace but after seeing those high water levels in the area basements I'd like to raise it up off the floor.  Mine currently sits on about a 2 in. concrete pad.  I'd like it higher.
I know this may reguire major changes to the duct work.  Would it meet code ?
Why won't anyone believe it's not butter ?

Ours sits on a 4 inch concrete pad and is the furnace that was there went we bought the house almost 17 years ago.  Our washer and dryer are also on 4 inch concrete pads.  So far so good.  We also have no standpipe or checkvalve.  Our "ace in the hole" is our sewer backup provision on our homeowners insurance policy.
