I'm seeking musicians that don't scare off too easily.

jqpublic

They better not scare at all if you're gonna be playing Lark's Tongues. I saw Crimson at University Of Chicago do a warmup show for that tour. Incredible.
Think of how stupid the average person is and realize half of them are stupider than that.

Yeah baby!

Larks Tongues part two is definitely on the set list, right after The Talking Drum.

Just trying to separate the puppies from the big dogs.

Stay tuned. It's time to wake up this town.

Haven't seen that on the board for a while.  Not since...

btw...  I play a mean tambourine.

Hey scoon,

If you'd be willing to wear a caveman outfit, swing gongs by chains over your head, bite on blood capsules at the end of your solos...you can be Jamie Muir.

Bear

...What else can we do now except roll down the window and let the wind blow back your hair...

A book I need to get:

Crimson Jazz Trio:
http://www.crimsonjazztrio.com/
Krimson News:
http://www.krimson-news.com/
Discipline Global Mobile:
http://www.dgmlive.com/
The FraKctured Zone:
http://www.frakctured.ukf.net/
ElEphAnt wAlK:

Fripp Book:
http://www.progressiveears.com/frippbook/contents.htm
Guitar Craft:
http://www.guitarcraft.com/?np=1

You gotta check out the Fripp book. It's on-line (free) and lays out the band's history nicely.

Need more?

Not to mention that you can google just about any musician that has ever played in King Crimson and find their web site...

Beans

Hey jq,

What's your favorite album?

What year was that?

Due to my age, I didn't get hip to KC until the late 70's and was thrilled that Fripp choose to activate in the 80's.

I saw the Three of a perfect Pair tour and saw the Double Trio stuff a few times - (had to bring my calculator). Amazing.

Rumor has it that Fripp will re-activate KC this September!!! after his Slow Music project ends.

Come to think of it, that UofC show was after Lark's Tongues came out. It was probably around 1979 or the early 80's. I was lucky enough to see the Bruford/Wetton version of the band several times back then, mainly at the Auditorium. Favorite album is kind of hard to pick.

Did any of you catch Adrian Belew at Napervilles Ribfest last year? He was really good.

Missed that one. I was all geared up to go see Johnny Winter and he canceled. They get some decent talent at that fest.

Makes me miss Berwyn's Summerfaire.

Humble Pie, Robin Trower...

I actually have the Trower show from Berwyn Summerfaire 1988 on home video!
lol. Naperville has a great lineup again this year. Its gotten so big they now have 2 stages. Belew was on the small stage while David Lee Roth was on the main stage. This year they have The Doobie Brothers,REO,and Charlie Daniels. Im goin to see 3 Dog Night minus one dog on the small stage. The missing dog Chuck Negron is playin Westchesters fest.

Beans

I haven't seen Belew in a long while. It's hard to keep up with him. I still haven't heard Side Three with Les Claypool.

jqpublic

I used to really enjoy Summerfaire. You'd see all the people you haven't seen for years. House of Blues killed a lot of the good talent at the summer fests, the people you used to see playing the festival circuit now play at the HoB for $30+ a pop.

Ha! About ten years back I attended the "G3" concert featuring Kenny Wayne Shepherd (crap-ass neoblues wanker), Steve Vai (America's finest purveyor of Guitar Center rock), and Fripp, who was doing his loopy Frippertronics soundscapes thing as people wandered into the pavilion. He'd tweak a few knobs at a console for a bit, go sit on a stool, play about three notes that were set to sustain for about 5 billion years, get up, walk to the side the stage, fold his arms, and listen to his work appreciatively. A couple of clowns up front gave him a standing ovation. Can't say I blame 'em. "Red" is one of my favorite albums and love his work with Brian Eno and his "production" of the first Roches album, but he can be a snooze.

Yeah, I remember seeing Fripp's mug in a G3 promo shot for an upcoming local concert a while back (probably the show you speak of) and thinking "What the hell is Fripp doing in that mix?".

As I've been reading through Fripp's diary archive (very interesting) over the past year, he had great distress over the whole G3 thing (kind of sad).
