Our toys were simple, plastic cowboys, Indians,Fort Apache which came with soldiers. Also were soldiers from World War Two.Each kid had different amounts and types enabling us to play for hours in our bedrooms or the basement. When the weather would be nice the back yard is where we were.We would create different battles, between cowboys and indians. These toys could be purchased at the dime store, they were not expensive so we were able to have a sizable collection.Marbles were another means of play, we would collect all different types and use them to play games in the dry mud in the back yard. We learned how to repair our bikes, rollar skates, and wagons our parents would not buy us new ones so we learned fix or walk. Our time was spent watching our parents and others fix things around the house ,above all we learned common sense! We would spent time in the alley discussing our latest project scooters made of wood, club houses, cars made of wood. Never did we spend much time sitting around the house or watching TV.The kids had the ability to create something out of nothing.
