A few years ago I purchased a colored hand held tv.  It is in great shape, but due to the converter changes, does this render them useless to receive channels?

Yes, they are useless andI'm not aware of any compact digital converter available. There are newer versions on the market that I saw during the Christmas sales season that work with the digital broadcast now in effect. I'm sure Best Buy or Fry's should have them.

No, just tried the three sitting in my basement (very TV orientated) an no luck.
