Title: BerwynTalk Demise?
Post by: berwynson on December 01, 2020, 10:54:26 PM
What led to this board's apparent demise? I myself started very numerous "reminisces" as you can see looking way back.

Tonight out of curiosity I searched "Shotola Market", where my mother bought a lot of our meats, between Harvey and Highland on Cermak, west of Stloukal Hardware. There was also a little drugstore, early on, I think. Jewel, of course, was to the East. Whatever happened to Modernage? Figatner Scott & Co.?

Born on Harvey Ave., lived there 30 years, same house. Drove the neighbors nuts!

Everyone has moved over to Facebook.  That is the main reason no one posts on Berwyn Talk any more

And FB has gone out of its way to repel its users. If reminded, some might come back, but they'd have to remember their username and password. Given the dust and cobwebs, it'd take a concerted effort to jumpstart a re-opening.

Berwynson, there are two Facebook groups where people do reminisce about Berwyn.  If you are on Facebook and want to talk about Berwyn in the old days, you might want to check them out:

A group called "I'm so Berwyn":

A group called "Cicero and Berwyn Memory Lane":

Someone tried this on FB about a year ago (getting people to go to Berwyntalkforum).  It went no where.

The one downside about Facebook is that all the discussions will be lost.

My intent is that this site will be given to the Berwyn Historical Society so that they can have a record of issues when this board was very active.

When I get around to it...I'm on the Board of the BHS, so it's no big deal.

The board has a new look, and no one to see it.  It's too bad because there certainly has been plenty to talk about.
