FEMA extending deadline to file claims for July basement flooding

The deadline has been extended to file claims with FEMA for damages caused by sewer backup and basement flooding. Notice of the extension was issued by FEMA on October 12, 2010. The time period for making a claim was set to close on October 18, 2010.

Residents now have until November 17, 2010 to file a claim with FEMA.

This is great news. I have been contacting residents in the 3rd Ward advising them of the 10/18 cut off date. I have encountered so many residents who think that they filed with FEMA because they filled out the City questionnaire in August. I asked for the names of the 3rd Ward residents who sent in their questionnaires so that I could call them and make sure that they had contacted FEMA. For some reason, no one at City Hall is calling me back.
