I heard that Beth Pechous has resigned from the District 100 school board and that the district is accepting resumes for a replacement board member.

Here is a link to the announcement. For people who are interested in applying for the vacant board position, resumes must be submitted by November 8:

Do you know why?

Here's the explanation for the resignation, in yesterday's Life newspaper:

Berwyn, IL — South Berwyn School District 100 board of education member Elizabeth Pechous resigned from the board on Oct. 27.

In a statement to the Berwyn Life, Pechous said she resigned to focus on other priorities.

"I did not want to short-change our community or the children of D100. I can no longer commit the time and effort that I feel is necessary to be an effective/good Board member," Pechous said in a statement.

Pechous went on to say she believes someone in the community can fill her seat and do a good job.

The district's website had an announcement calling for interested parties to apply for the open seat. The deadline for applications is today, Nov. 8.
