We are definitely a drop-off site for the Deck the Depot food & toy drive. However, we are also having our own food drive that I posted about here. We are collecting for 4 different local food pantries that service Berwyn & neighboring communities. The more we can do to help the better. So please do come out & give support to the Deck the Depot event & Tonini's Food Drive.

Telemundo TV has contacted us & will be filming at the store this Thursday July 5th to watch customers take the Gladiator Challenge. Apparently they have heard about this sandwich & want to come out & film our customers taking the challenge. This is a HUGE Italian Sub that has 1LB of each deli meat & cheese we put on our regular Italian Subs. This Huge sub has to be eaten within 1 hour. It is $19.99 for this sandwich & if you finish it in 1 hour it is FREE & we will give you a gift certificate for another Gladiator to be used at a later date. Big Box Chains vs. Local Businesses Statistics

- Compliments of the Depot District Merchants:

Throughout the United States, only about 33.6% of the revenue from national chains is reinvested into the community, which is very low compared to the 64.8% return from local businesses.

- A study in Austin, Texas found that $100 spent at a local store produced $45 worth of local economic activity, and $100 at the chain store brought back only $13.

- Local businesses are usually established in city centers, instead of on the margins of communities like large chains, so they contribute less to pollution, congestion, habitat loss and urban sprawl.

If the people of an average American city were to shift 10% of their spending from chains to local businesses, it would bring an additional $235 million per year to the community's economy.

We want to notify all our customers that the store is closed due to a family emergency. We plan to reopen very soon. We want to thank everyone for all their support. We apologize for any inconvenience and assure everyone that this is only temporary.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE: On Saturday May 4th from 9am-6pm at the store we are going to give out 2 free homemade meatball sandwiches to all Forest View residents who present a picture ID to verify their residency. Please pass this on to any family or friends who live in Forest View. There is no purchase required just come on in. We will continue to take donations to drop off for the Forest View residents. A big thank you to Turano for donating the bread. We feel it is so important to give back to the communities we serve. So if able please help out your neighbors. Both of us lived through devastating house fires & understand all too well their feelings. Our thoughts & prayers are with all of you who were affected by the storm.

We are also dropping off at the Forest View city hall homemade pizzas & 100 sub sandwiches tomorrow 4/28/13 around noon. Our friend Bobby Rubinelli that owns Del Alpe foods is donating cases of pasta that we will also give out on May 4th.

Just an FYI regarding Holiday items at the store....

We are taking orders for our Homemade Italian Sausage & our Homemade Fresh Polish Sausage for the upcoming Holidays. We will also have our Del Vino sausage as well which is our wine sausage.

We are going through hundreds of pounds of our cheese Raviolis every day so we highly recommend you pre-order them as well.

We will have Chellino ricotta but are going through cases of that a day so it would not be a bad idea to order ahead since Chellino closes down the week of the Holiday & supplies can be limited.

We are making every effort to keep up with the demand & will fill all orders on a first come first serve basis.

Tomorrow we will be making Homemade Gelato Cookie Sandwiches......We will be making them to order with your choice of Cookie or Pizzelle & your desired flavor of Gelato. So don't miss out these will be available tomorrow only starting at noon. We will also be grilling up Homemade Italian sausage sandwiches, all beef hot dogs, stuffed burgers & stuffed sausage burgers starting at noon as well. So come on by & try something different. We have extra seating available outside.
