2011 Best of Berwyn: WEISNER PEREZ
During the 2011 Best of Berwyn Banquet held yesterday (May 4) at the Skylite West Banquet, Weisner Perez, student at Heritage Middle School, was announced as winner of the 2011 Best of Berwyn.   Olivia Woods, student from Freedom Middle School, took second place and third place went to Itzel Alvarez from Lincoln Middle School.  This year, in addition to the 2011 Best of Berwyn award, a special award was presented in memory of Thomas G. Shaughnessy, former Mayor of Berwyn to Esteban Lopez, a Heritage Middle School student who has demonstrated honor, integrity and respect to this program. 
In the past 10 years, the Best of Berwyn Junior Citizen Recognition Program has received a tremendous amount of support by the City of Berwyn, the schools and the community.  Approximately 300 people attended last night's Banquet including the families, teachers, principles, community leaders and city officials.  The North Berwyn Park District thanks all the schools for their consistent participation and the community for embracing this event and hopes for continued support in the years to come.
"The number and caliber of nominations was exceptionally high this year.  I congratulate the winners and all the nominees for their drive and commitment to our community," said Joe Vallez, NBPD Executive Director.
