Quote from: n01_important on May 08, 2011, 10:18:30 PM.......Let 'em party until the sun comes up, and once the sun comes up, wait 10 minutes and start up your lawnmower, weed whacker and leaf blower.   :666: muhahahahah  :666:

A good suggestion, to be sure, IF you can stay awake comfortably to do it, AFTER being kept up all night by the interlopers.  berwynson

Ear plugs.

Finally one senior called telling the police if the noise doesn't stop he was going over and blow up the house and everyone around it,he also mentioned that he was an explosive expert in the service.Done ,several cops came ,quiet at last.
Not sure that saying something like that to the cops is too smart nowadays. The guy could end up on a terrorist watch list or something.

Your right, but things sometimes get to the point of frustration, one says and does crazy things. Is anyone aware that the rhythm of certain music can raise the stress and anxiety levels?

I enjoyed the Fiesta music from Cicero, plus it was off by 9 or earlier. I see a huge difference between a community event and a single home that is blasting music, but that's me.

The music and the speeches stopped at 10:30 p.m. per Cicero PD

Why, hell yes! Just consider what their "music" caused various savage cultures to do..........berwynson

Certain sounds known to measureably raise blood pressure which, I guess, does tie in to elevated stress and anxiety levels.  The vibration from bass from those super subwoofers can be felt and does seem to cause some people's heart to race.

Another thing about continuous loud noise - it masks crime going on around.  Easy to bust out a few windows or even beat someone up on the  street when someone is blasting out their choice of music for hours on end, etc.  But, it appears excessively loud music at fiestas and 'family gatherings' is what the people want.  So be it.  As someone reminded me -- that is what earplugs are for.

Maybe sort of off topic, but with the warm weather the last few days, I am reminded of my only peeve of summer - the goofs and their loud car stereos.

Don't get me wrong. I'm a life long metalhead with a 1,000 watt (I think) Bose system in my Explorer. But I wait until I'm on 39th /Ogden / Harlem to turn up Tony Iommi or Judas Priest to "11". I know that most people that might be mowing their lawns or out for a stroll on our side streets don't want to be inundated with the "noise" that I love.

But, I just don't get these (white) kids blasting rap out of their cars driving by us down 37th Street. "yeah I'm Bad.....I'm Bad....."
No you're not. You're silly and quite frankly I bet your parents didn't pay enough attention to you.

Back on topic, we have some semi-raucous (beer drinkin' and lots of kids) get togethers with the neighbors on summer weekends, but start toning it down as the sun starts to set. We have the benefit of being on the corner, but we always remind our next door neighbor that "if we're too loud, just say something, and we'll pipe down." She actually likes a little bit of noise. She's a widow and by herself, and if she knows we're outside, then she finds comfort knowing that we're outside, and no one is going to come and rob her, etc.

It's really neat to have good neighbors.

Put a set of loud speakers pointed at the source of the loud music, crank up the volume, polkas marches,or any music  will work. The band will not be able to play with this going on,try it works all the time.

"Breakin' The Law" - YEAH!  "Crazy Train" - or anything Ozzy - also my fav - but still I would not dream of inflicting it on anyone else - unless they want to come to Ozzfest with me, etc.
U r so right about the white punks who think they are sooooo bad.  As you said - they just look silly and stupid as they go about with their saggy-baggy attire, ball caps with brim turned right or left (some without a clue that is as sign of gang affiliation...) and blasting out obscene rap music.  Their moms must be so very proud when they come to the PD to bail out their Einstein and, often, their own vehicle which was used in the audio assault on a neigbhborhood.

The next time the a-hole neighbors have a loud party at night, early the  next morning, we are busting out the bagpipe music full blast aimed at their house!
;D

Seriously...

Since Saturday night, we have made it a point to talk to some of our neighbors, and have discovered and re-discovered that we have some wonderful people living right near us.  They are also disgusted, but were afraid that they were alone in their disdain for these jerks.  So we exchanged phone numbers.  As someone here said, if a couple of us complain, the message might get through.

When we had ahole neighbors who had no consideration for the fact that WE work during the day (and they don't work at all) and would be loud til very late....our comeback was to start the lawnmower right under their bedroom window the following morning, affix a velcro tie to the handle (so it would stay on) and then go do a few things in the house for a while before coming and turning it off.

I like it!!!  I love all these great snarky ideas I'm getting from everyone here!  Keep 'em comin'!!

My ahole neighbor gets home from work at 3am. When he locks his car, the horn beeps, sometimes waking me and others in the immediate area. I'm wondering whether to leave him a note and see what happens, or.....

Best idea is just what you did -- got acquainted with other neighbors and exchanged phone numbers and a commitment to helping each other out by calling PD.
Also love the bagpipe idea.  However, the sound of a person practicing violin is perhaps the most irritating of sounds - EVER - until, of course, they master that lovely instrument...

I love these ideas, sneaky & fun...lol

We've been dealing with noisy neighbors.  All I have to do is unleash my husband on them, they see this big a** red neck looking guy coming at them asking them to quiet the hell down, they do it & apologize...lol

Could I put your husband on retainer for the summer?
