Has anyone tried growing asparagus? I bought 6 root balls at the Depot on Sunday and planted them last night. I read on the U of I Extension website that it will be 3 years before I can harvest.

Also tried - no success.  Plants looked good but never made it past near end of 2nd year.  Wish I knew what we could have done.  But, good luck! Fresh picked asparagus has to be a real treat.

This is our third year, so hopefully it will still be going. Last year there were a few shoots that looked edible, but it wasn't time. I'll let you know.

We bought three crowns last spring from the Oak Park Conservatory plant sale. They said we should be able to harvest it this year, and we have. Not much so far, but good.
