Most interesting items on the agenda - Sale of Anderson Ford south lot to SafeLite Auto; 3 TIF requests- one for Tonini for $3,850; one for the building at 6810 Windsor for $81,662 and one for  "The Wire" (on Roosevelt west of Oak Park) for $81,662.  Approval of a "funding agreement" involving $392K for construction for improvements on the Harlem Metra station; and awarding of paving contract for the north Berwyn Fire station.

Most interesting thing about the paving contract is that it is not being awarded to the lowest bidder. The lowest bidder was FM&A Paving at $85,000.  But, the recommendation is to award to the second lowest bidder, Abbey Paving, for $116,500.

Finally, three law suit settlements, two of which are over $20K.

I think there is a copy/paste error with the TIF application memo to the city council for the TIF application from "The Wire".  It lists the same owner names as the owner of 6810 Windsor and the exact same amount of money ($81,662).

It looks like someone copied and pasted the 6810 Windsor TIF application into "The Wire" TIF application and forgot to change the last half of the memo.

I was looking at one of the law suit settlement agenda items (Case 2011-MI-302132 involving a personal injury lawsuit by Cherry Miller against the city of Berwyn).

The proposed agenda item proposes a settlement of $20,881.  Yet, the case was "DISMISSED WITH PREJUDICE"  on 7/24/2012.

For the lawyers out there, what does it mean to dismiss a case with prejudice?

buzz

Not a lawyer but, it means the case cannot be tried again.....before another judge, or in another court.
So why is there a settlement ?
Why won't anyone believe it's not butter ?

I think the more interesting question, is who is Cherry Miller, and what is her connection to city government?

Namesake of the now defunct Cherry Lounge?  just kidding.
Unfortunately, this ain't your grandmother's Berwyn anymore.

Didn't someone at one point say there was  a site where you can look up case numbers?

You can look up a case on the website of the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.
