Just looking for thoughts on wireless setup -

All in one modem and router

OR

Sep modem and wireless router?

Switching to comcast / xfinity (w/ blast) in a few weeks. Need to make a decision - purchasing my own modem. I'm the first one to say that I'm not very versed in networky stuff.

Me either but I have a modem and separate wireless router.  Just because that's how I set it up initially.  No other particular reason.

Use their modem, but for the love of god, get your own router. I just switched to Comcast and they use this crappy Arris all-in-one gateway which is incompatible with lots of wireless equipment.

Well, we got phone service with them as well which severely limits our options for modems. We did get one of their Arris brand all in one modems, and everything works. Newest laptop got 30+ mbps down wireless.
