Just an FYI, there are 5 openly gay people running for office in the February primary as well as one African-American (Monique Spence) and 11 Latino candidates.

Here are two articles from the Windy City Times about the gay candidates running:

Berwyn United's Assessor candidate failed to pass the necessary tests, that qualify an individual to run for Assessor.

Update on the candidacy challenges - a judge over turned the ruling by the Berwyn Election board on 8th ward candidate Edgar Garcia so Edgar Garcia will be on the ballot in February.

A judge upheld the ruling on 6th ward candidate Monique Spence so the 6th ward aldermanic race has only one person running.

In the 8th ward, the issue was the candidate's name.  Edgar Garcia used his full legal name (something like Edgar Garcia Perez) on the statement of candidacy while in other contexts he uses the name Edgar Garcia.  The Berwyn Electoral Board (made up of Mayor Robert Lovero, City Clerk Tom Pavlik and 1st ward alderman Nona Chapman) threw Garcia-Perez off the ballot for that reason.  Yesterday a judge overturned that decision.

In the case of Monique Spence, Spence was registered to vote in Chicago and voted in Chicago in the March 2016 primary.  Her residency in Berwyn was challenged for that reason and is the reason why the Berwyn electoral board removed her from the ballot.

Yesterday, a judge upheld the ruling of the Berwyn Electoral Board and ruled that Spence should not be on the ballot because she had not established residency in Berwyn for at least 1 year. FYI, Spence has lived in Berwyn for 6 years but had voted at a residence in Chicago.  She did not vote in Berwyn until the November, 2016 election.

There may be.  These are the candidates that I know about.  I did not even know Pechous was running until someone sent me an email.
