Where do these demonstrators come from?Don't these people have jobs,or families? I can remember going to school working part time, first of all if I took days off from work I would be fired many waiting behind me for my job,If I didn't go to school I would be the looser and fall behind in class. Can't these people get it through their heads the election is over someone wins someone looses,I bet very few voted. There is no excuse for beating other people or destroying cars and looting businesses.Freedom of speech my ass! Where is the respect? Are not people responsible for their actions any more?

All over.

Don't these people have jobs,or families?

Yes. Many of them used their vacation time to go, and brought their families to Washington, DC. Many of them are like you and retired. Or are like you once were and self-employed, and hence able to build some flexibility into their schedules. Or they went to one of the local marches, like the one in Chicago today.

Then be grateful that you live in a time where many people can go to a protest without fear of losing their job. That sounds better than getting shitcanned for taking time off work to do their own thing. I'm sorry you didn't have vacation time or weekends off back in the Good Old Days.

And look where it's got you. Berwyn Senator, looser no more! What's the highest level of education you've reached, senator?

They want to win next time. If they don't start doing that now, when do you propose they start?

I bet very few voted.

I don't know why you'd say that. They're engaged in democracy enough to go to DC to protest, but they don't vote?

Seems to me that the overwhelming majority of protesters are being very responsible. What are you watching and reading about the Inaugural weekend that leads you to believe that people are not being responsible for their actions?

On TV yesterday damage in Washington D.C. over a dozen arrested.Wouldn't they be better off spending their vacation time relaxing somewhere warmer they prove nothing, change nothing. Hillary is not going to be resurrected? Read an article can't remember where that a big percentage of these people don't vote or maybe that was the demonstrators in Chicago!!!! I worked weekends and overtime during school, my level is the same as my kids.March yes but don't create on issue for freedom and rights for others to travel and walk down streets. Are these demonstrators supported by the democratic party or one of their supporters.OH! I know its the Russians. What gives someone the wright to physically abuse others and their property because they support another candidate? Cars have been damaged adults dragged from their cars and beat up people just punched for having the wrong hat or sign.Is this Democracy? or socialism? Or as the old saying goes "The masses are the asses "

Actually, it was more than 200 people arrested in DC around the Inaugural: http://www.cnn.com/2017/01/19/politics/trump-inauguration-protests-womens-march/

But you and I are smart people, senator---you have a Master's Degree!---and you recognize that the defining element of the protests yesterday and today is not smashing windows and getting into confrontations with cops. The overwhelming majority of protesters are making a public statement about the values they want to see in government---respect for all genders, faiths, races, and sexual orientations, fair treatment of everyone under the law, an end to mass incarceration and clash-of-civilizations foreign policy. This is no different than the Tea Party rallies or protests during the Obama inaugurations, where people called for their own vision of what American government should look like. In all cases, the protests were, by and large, peaceful.

I haven't heard anything about trying to have Hillary run in 2020. The prevailing sentiment among Democrats and those on the left is to win midterm elections with a special focus on swing districts.

You have a remarkable talent for reading articles and not remembering where you read them; perhaps that Master's Degree of yours isn't so impressive after all. Seriously, though, if you find that article showing that a "big percentage" of "these people" don't vote, I'd be interested in reading it.

They got permits for the marches. If you find permits for free assembly so very bothersome, take it up with the law-enforcement agencies that granted the permits.

This link contains a list of the organizers and sponsors of the Women's March: https://www.womensmarch.com/partners/. Seriously, most of these questions you have can be answered with a quick Google. I don't have the top-flight education you have---I possess only a BA, while you have a Master's!---but I'm trying to use my education as best as I can to help you.

I haven't read of one case where some one was dragged from their car and beaten yesterday. I did see an incident where Richard Spencer, a prime mover in the American white nationalist movement, got punched by a protester. I don't advocate violence, but if one of the worst things that happened at yesterday's Inauguration protests is that a Nazi got cold-cocked, I'm still feeling pretty good about American democracy.

Not remembering is a part of aging sometimes I do, other times I don't, memory has nothing to do with education, you'll will understand soon enough. I don't understand what the BA would have over a Masters  when incomes to remembering irrelevant issues,Politics has never been a favorite.I Really tend to focus on important issues like money and business. I do find it interesting that a business man out foxed a professional politician,I am neither Republican or Democrat  I always vote for the individual I feel would be the best president,I really could not understand why the two that ran were the best of each party. But so be it, four years will go fast,I hope for all our sake that he does well! Things were much different years go! Rather then marching I would rather spend the time at my summer home.

How about the demonstrations that take place in Chicago are they all peaceful haven't really followed them.

Ted

A lot of women (and men) from Berwyn participated in the demonstrations in downtown and several went to Washington as well.  Lots of posts on Facebook from Berwyn residents who participated in the demonstrations.

I think people made a statement when they voted for Trump!!!! I don't want to start a political war just a statement.

markberwyn

What statement did they make?
