Billy Quan is a good guy who has done business in Berwyn for years.  He runs a good clean tavern.  I never hear of trouble there.  It's just locals....certainly no gang bangers.  Why would you want to knock a place like that?  I hope it's nothing political.  On this board so far,  I've heard Salerno's put in a bad light because the BRDO frequents there.  There was also reference to some other place in the DD where somebody holds court in a throne, whatever.  Also, a reference to the Village Pub, which I didn't understand.  Two former BRDO Mayors  attend Mass at St. Leonard's should that be out of bounds too?

pkd,

Please don't distort my posts. I've NEVER disparaged salerno's. In fact, I was quite complimentary about the pizza and owners. arnie and Dee are WONDERFUL people. That being said, Arnie was none too shy about introducing Mike Woodward as "the next mayor of Berwyn" pre-election. I don't think the "connection" between the BRDO and salerno's needs further explanation. Nonetheless, I'll still eat my pizza there.

As for the "other" place, it isn't a restaurant and I didn't mention it by name, nor did I say anything negative about the establishment.

As for the Village Pub, see my post in another thread.

I agree with Dukesdad.   Nothing wrong with a Billy Burger at Quan's.  Don't knock the local businesses.   We want to keep them all going.

I think you may find just as good a half pound burger across the tracks from Quan's along with a side of steak fries.

Goldy's over in Forest Park is reputed to have a good burger.  I will be checking it out (Lucky dog was NOT a good burger...hot dog stand burger).

Cheers,
Brian

I think Bob is a regular...

Not just at Quan's either... ;D ;D ;D

I just had a good messy burger with grilled onions at Lucky Dog on 16th & Harlem.  Why are you North Berwyn guys keeping that place a secret?

year later, but...
Lucky Dog is a sleeper with their burgers...flame broiled (kicks up pretty high while cooking)
Golden Steer...serious burger...

tried Goldy's, wasn't impressed (nor drunk, so...)
In search of a good sit down with a good ½lb. bacon cheddar burger...

oh yeah.  we hit lucky dog at 16th & harlem quite often, as do friends of ours.  it's definately a frequent drive-thru foir us when we're covered in drywall dust and too messy to dine in anywhere.  they are fast and coinsistent.

Stella's in Lyons.  After your burger, take a few swings.

I don't live in the area but everytime I have to pick up a friend from Midway, I stop in here.  If you tell your friend to call you as soon as they walk off the plane, you can slam your drink and make it to Midway before they walk out the door.  I have been here about 10 times and the servers and patrons are always friendly even though I am not a regular.

The first time I saw one of their burgers, I laughed so hard I almost crapped myself.  The bun alone has to be nearly a foot in diameter and the burger sticks out from the bun.  Add over a pound of onions, bacon, cheeze, pickles and whatever else and this burger must be the biggest burger I have ever seen.  The only thing more funny is watching someone eat one!  The fries are hand cut and perfect.  This is what "Chicago food" is all about!
