ECUMENICAL COMMUNITY PRAYER SERVICE IN RESPONSE TO HURRICANE KATRINA
September 14 (Wednesday), 7:30 p.m.
First Lutheran Church of Berwyn
Corner of 31st & Euclid

A group of congregations in the Berwyn/Cicero area are joining together for an evening prayer service in response to the devastation and human misery wreaked by Hurricane Katrina.  All members of our community are welcome and invited to participate!

During the service, an offering will be received to benefit Church World Service, an ecumenical agency that works here in this country and around the world.  Among other responses, CWS has supplied blankets, personal hygiene kits, and medicine to the affected areas.

Donations of items are also welcome.  These will be taken to local shelter sites, depending on their needs.  Items such as new underclothing and socks, personal hygiene items, baby supplies, school supplies, and something for the evacuees to keep their new belongings in (suitcases, backpacks, duffel bags, tote bags) are welcome.  At this point we understand that clothing items are not needed.

Participating congregations include First Lutheran Church of Berwyn, Presbyterian Church of Berwyn, Wesley United Methodist Church, Trinity Community UCC, Berwyn United Lutheran Church, Warren Park Presbyterian Church, First Baptist Church of Berwyn, Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Canto de Esperanza Iglesia Presbiteriana, First Congregational Church of Berwyn, and North Berwyn Congregational Church.
