Has anyone ever replaced a recessed medicine cabinet in their 1938 or so home. I'm having the hardest time finding a medicine cabinet that fits into the recessed hole in my tile bathroom walls. 16X20 cut out. Maybe you found other solutions. I'm tearing my hair out. Been looking for four months or more.

Have you considered widening the opening ?  If it's not a support wall it's just a matter of carving into the studs.
Why won't anyone believe it's not butter ?

I Googled "16X20 Medicine Cabinet" and found this

There are others.

I've seen some of those medicine cabinets. One of them, the recess is too small, the others too large. I can't widen (because it's between two light and in tile). But thanks, I'll look at those a little harder. I might have to go with surface mount, just to cover the hole.

Another option I've seen, cover the hole with a mirror and install a cabinet on another wall. if you have the space.  Marshall's and IKEA have great mirrors and wall cabinets at very reasonable prices.

Yes, that is certainly possible. Or a surface mount.

I do love this site.

My wife tries to hide the catalogue whenever I get it ... she knows that I can't resist orderning more stuff!

A number of these Amish places can make just about anything you can imagine in your head.
Of course, once you look at this work that sterile mirror just won't be an option!
Keep in mind you may be able to knock off any quote by using a lesser wood that would be
painted anyway, no need for quartersawn here...
