Jeffrey - thanks for reminding me - terrific event - how late is Proksa open for ticket purchase?  $40 bucks for a family of 5 - spaghetti and meatballs - some Italian entertainment - can't even get a deal like that at Mickey D's!

I'm going to sleep tonight dreaming that you're going to spring for a glass of vino one of these years (thank God Mario will be around!).

My family only eats top-of-the-line: Big Macs!  Truly, it's tough for a family of 5 to get out of Mickey D's for less than $30, and I'll pay $10 for Jeff Janda's company, especially since he's fixed the water fountain.

You talkin' about Mraz Park?   I agree!

BTW, Mraz Park looks gorgeous with the lighting this season.

Is it too late to get tickets without paying a 50% at-the-door premium?

Come on n01, how cheap can you be?  It's for a  park District scholarship, and
your going to try to weasel out of paying the price set  at the door.
Aren't you embarrassed?  Don't go at all if you can't afford it. Why not just
contribute your $10.00 and call it a day?

I would have but have to save money for the upcoming 15% tax.  Wink

It doesn't have anything to do with being cheap... just fiscal responsibility.  Laid out the budget plan for 2010, and need to stick to it.  I can't spend more than I make, a luxury reserved only for government.

My glowing review, as requested.

Fantastic fund raiser.  No better value for $10 in Berwyn.
(I sat near 1st ward alderman Nona & no, she didn't get mad at me.)

There were multiple pastas- i.e. marinara, alfredo, vodka sauce, etc., meatballs, snausiche!, salad, sliced bread, butter, $2 cash bar (boxed wine, keg of beer (not picky, ice cold)), cakes, coffee, and much more.

They had a silent art auction (kicking myself for not buying the transvestite painting*), and raffle prizes (I won! (basket with oils, seasonings, etc.)).

Later they opened up the stage for the live entertainment.  It was really good, but I couldn't understand what they were saying.  Sounded Italian to me...    Grin

I was told this was much better this year than last, due to the efforts of Frank Amaro and Mario Manfredini (BFD).  Mario is known to be the best or one of the best cooks at the BFD.

If there's any complaint/suggestion for the event, it would be for the building itself.  There's one men's room, and two women's.  Quite gentlemanly, but for an event like this I think one could be designated "unisex."  That or redo the men's room to divide the shitter from the urinal so two could use it at once.

* Not sure if really a transvestite, but looked like it.

As an aside, I bought a piece from the auction, but needed to get cash.
8th Ward Alderman Laureto spotted me the cash so I could walk with it.  That's pretty special that a DCOB alderman would loan me the $$ Grin.
That's the kind of person she is, though. (no, not foolish.  I paid her back already.)

The two smaller restrooms are ment to be handicapped accessible rooms, put in when they put that whole addition up a few years ago. The original women's restroom is up the stairs and behind the stage. The men's room is in the basement but most of the time they don't use it, why I'm not sure.

Thank you to everyone who attended or supported the Positively Pasta event.  While the receipts have not been totaled, the event sold out and showed an outpouring of support for the program.  I want to thank all of the sponsors and volunteers this made this possible.  Commssioners Amaro and Manfredini did an excellent job preparing the dinner.

Thank you for your support of the Berwyn Park District.
