Dead from stomach cancer at 67.

it's a sad day in Metal.  RIP RJD.

Yes, this is very sad  :'(

I first saw Dio with Richie Blackmore's Rainbow at the old International Amphitheatre (God I Loved that dump!)
He had that classic hard rock voice.  :fro:  :coreyhart:  :usa:
I also thought he was a very good fit to replace ozzy in Black Sabbath!
Over Taxed, Over Worked and Under Paid = America!

It's such a shame too because he wasn't done yet. Just saw him for the umpteenth time last summer on Heaven and Hell's (Sabbath) 'The Devil You Know Tour'. His voice was still in top form and that album is one stellar metal performance. Iommi and Dio were a remarkable team.

Will definitely be watching my 'Live from Radio City Music Hall' DVD "Over and Over" tonight.

I recently saw a Rainbow show from the 70s at a friends house that blew me away.  Better (vocally) than Sabbath and DIO performances I've seen, and I'm a big Sabbath fan.

He was also one of the nicest guys in the business.  He always made sure the last one in line was greeted.
